My wife Wanda kept on saying how it feels good to cook like those professional chefs she sees on TV, cooking, flipping and tossing utensils in mid-air using a griddle. So I thought of buying one for our wedding anniversary. Since she wasn’t as professional as the chefs on TV but she can enjoy the feeling of it right?
So I asked her friends if buying a non-stick one would be more practical but they say it was not that good. So we settled on this Lodge logic griddle because of its pre-seasoned feature although it is heavy but that was to be expected from a wide one. Wanda was screaming her lungs out when she opened it and took out burger patties, some side vegetables and shrimp. She then tested it right there and then. I had to restrain her for a few minutes though to make sure that the griddle was preheated before she starts flipping foods.
The meat was cooked well with all those grill lines that she loves seeing, and the vegetables were grilled just right. She said that cooking on a griddle was so easy, she wouldn’t mind doing it for us the whole night. Then comes the challenging part, how to clean it. The manual said no soap, so we just poured water over it, making us conclude that preheating was a must. My wife and me couldn’t be any happier with our new griddle.
Manufacturer’s Version
The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge’s Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company’s vegetable oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box.
This professional-size cast-iron grill/griddle combo from the Lodge Logic series measures 20 by 10-1/2 inches (with an actual cooking surface of 19-1/4 by 8-1/2 inches), serious enough to straddle either a campfire or two burners on your stovetop. The reversible feature of this crowd-pleasing cooker means you can use the smooth side for cooking flapjacks, eggs, and grilled cheese sandwiches, and the ridged grill side for hamburgers, steaks, and sausages.
A slight slope drains fat into a generous grease gutter, and the two loop-style handles provide safe transport. After the meal is done, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no soap, and dry immediately. Lodge covers the sturdy griddle with a lifetime limited warranty against defects. This pan is guaranteed to pass down from one generation to the next. –Ann Bieri
